It’s no secret that we here at ISLANDS are big fans of water and some of us have been known to catch a wave or two. So when I met Clark Little at the Maui Photo Festival I was intrigued by the images he was creating. Clark grew up surfing Oahu’s North shore and now spends his days bobbing in the waves creating stunning shorebreak images like the one pictured above. His first book, The Shorebreak Art of Clark Little, will be released November 15. Clark recently sent me a sneak peek and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy.

2010 Photo Workshops on Hawaii’s Midway Atoll

The Midway Atoll is a part of Hawaii unseen by most visitors. Nearly 1,250 miles northwest of Honolulu, Midway is a former Naval Air Facility that plays host to an abundance of wildlife, including the world’s largest population of Laysan Albatrosses (nicknamed Gooney Birds for their awkwardness).

Join Joseph Van Os Photo Safaris in March or April of 2010 for an amazing nine day photo safari that visits the previously inaccessible Sand Island and Eastern Island. Hone your wildlife photographing skills while you capture shots of the over two million sea birds (of eighteen species) nest on the island each year. The Hawaiian monk seals, green sea turtles and spinner dolphins that are frequent guests in Midway’s Lagoon and are also sure to make great subjects!
