Great food is just one of the many reasons to visit Malaysia. And with the ninth annual Malaysia International Gourmet Festival, October is the perfect month to get up and go. Here’s the breakdown of what you need to know:

• The festival is from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31.
• There are 24 participating Malaysian fine dining establishments, including Bunga Emas, Enak KL, Chynna and Lai Po Heen.
• Sample menus include Udang Kara Kerdil Limau Bali, which is a baby rock lobster salad, citrus fruits, panda froth, are’nkha caviar and pomegranate compote. Still hungry? Try the Nasi Pandan Gajus, savoury screw pine rice with cashews.
• Special gourmet tour packages are available, allowing travelers to sample the best of Malaysian cuisine at great rates for the entire duration of the festival. There’s even limo service to and from the airport, and in between all your eating experiences.
• Packages also include the opportunity to learn how to cook your favorite dishes from the master chefs themselves.
